Labonte and TaxSlayer.com Racing for a Cause This Weekend
Sponsor Honoring 'Loyal Friend' Battling Cancer
Augusta, Ga. (September 3, 2010) - This weekend, Bobby Labonte will be behind the wheel of the No. 71 TaxSlayer.com Chevrolet for Sunday night's Emory Healthcare 500 at the Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway. For team sponsor, TaxSlayer.com, the race will have special meaning. The primary sponsor of Labonte and the TRG Motorsports team will place a special decal on the "C post" to support and give tribute to Lisa Murray, a dear friend to the TaxSlayer.com family who is currently undergoing treatment for colon cancer.
Murray, who was diagnosed with colon cancer this past April, is not only a passionate race fan, but an extended member of the TaxSlayer.com family. Murray and her family planned to attend the race this weekend as a part of TaxSlayer.com and their "Family and Friends" day. Unfortunately, part of Murray's treatment includes surgery which she will undergo this Thursday at the Mayo Clinic, making her unable to attend the race weekend.
TaxSlayer.com, along with the Bobby Labonte Foundation, will obtain the participating driver signatures of Sunday's Emory Healthcare 500 on a race helmet to be auctioned off at a later date on eBay, with 100% of the proceeds going to the American Cancer Society in her honor. Along with the helmet, all guests this weekend of TaxSlayer.com will be sporting orange bracelets with the "Murray's March" slogan.
"Lisa's fight with cancer has touched all of us at TaxSlayer.com and Rhodes Financial Services," said Daniel Eubanks, Assistant Director of Growth, TaxSlayer.com. "Lisa has always been a loyal friend of TaxSlayer.com and we know with her determination and faith she will overcome this obstacle."
"We just wanted to let Lisa know that we are thinking of her, and even though she can't be here at the race with us, she is on all of our minds. We've got to thank TRG Motorsports and Bobby Labonte in helping us to continue to raise awareness for the battle that many families face every day, and hopefully we can raise enough money with the helmet to make a nice donation in Lisa's honor."
