MIAMI The Sailfish Cup Gala to benefit the NASCAR Foundation and the Betty Jane France Speediatrics Children's ER at Homestead Hospital is set for Nov.17 at Jungle Island in Miami.

Created to celebrate the Championship finale of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Homestead- Miami Speedway, the Sailfish Cup also kicks off South Florida's sailfish-tournament season. The Sailfish Cup Gala is an evening of philanthropy and concludes with the awarding of the Bill France Jr. Memorial Sailfish Cup Trophy. Proceeds from the silent & live charity auctions will benefit the NASCAR Foundation, Speediatrics, and the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation.

"The NASCAR fan base long has been one of the most supportive communities in all of sports, and that loyalty again will be on display in mid-November when we host NASCAR's series- crowning Ford Championship Weekend for a ninth consecutive year," said Homestead-Miami Speedway President Matthew Becherer. "The Sailfish Cup Gala is going to go a long way in benefitting two important charities that we vigorously support in the NASCAR Foundation and Speediatrics."

A member of the NASCAR Foundation's Family of Charities, the Betty Jane France Speediatrics Children's Emergency Room at Homestead Hospital treats more than 19,000 patients a year. The Sailfish Cup Gala, hosted by NASCAR President and NASCAR Foundation Board Member Mike Helton, has raised more than $330,000 for charity in just three years. Tickets to the event are available for $500 and include a 5-course dinner.

The live and silent auctions feature NASCAR VIP experiences and authentic autographed race memorabilia, as well as signed items from celebrities. Fans unable to attend the Gala live still can participate in the charity auctions and can preview items via www.NASCAR.COM/Foundation. Online bidding starts Nov.1, and the auction will close on Nov.12 at noon ET; high bidders will be contacted after the Gala. For more information, visit www.NASCAR.COM/Foundation.
