"Elkhart Lake Runoffs Week Charity Dinner to benefit "Victory Junction", member of Paul Newman's Hole In the Wall Camps Association"

ELKHART LAKE, Wis. -- 2010 will mark the second year running that the SCCA National Championship Runoffs will be held at the famed Road America racetrack in Elkhart Lake, WI. And for the second consecutive year the event will include the Elkhart Lake Runoffs Week Charity Dinner honoring the late Paul Newman. As it was in 2009, the charity dinner will be held at the historic Siebkens Resort on Wednesday September, 22nd with proceeds benefitting Victory Junction, a member of the Association of the Hole in the Wall Camps. The Runoffs Charity Dinner will honor Paul Newman by combining two of the late actor's greatest passions; philanthropy and motorsports.

Victory Junction Camp is located in Randleman, NC and was co-founded by Kyle and Pattie Petty in honor of their son, Adam, who was tragically killed in a racing accident. The Camp provides life-changing experiences for children with life-threatening conditions and serious illnesses. Victory Junction has enriched the lives of more than 13,000 children and their families since opening in 2004.

Newman, who has won the Runoffs as a driver, loved visiting Elkhart Lake when his race teams were competing at Road America. The famed actor could often be found enjoying dinner at the Siebkens restaurant, so it is very fitting that a charity dinner honoring him will take place in the same dining room. The event will feature a silent auction, as well as the US Editor of Motor Sport magazine and author of countless racing books, Gordon Kirby, as a speaker.

Organizing the Runoffs dinner is Laura Cooper Dusenberry and Jeannie Shetler, both former employees of Newman Haas Racing and Elkhart Lake residents. Both women felt it important to put on the event to honor their former boss and support the Victory Junction during one of Newman's favorite motorsports events. Cooper and Shelter are excited to be holding this event for a second year in a row.

"As former employees of Newman Haas Racing we wanted to do something special that would honor Paul Newman," said co-event organizer Laura Cooper Dusenberry. "This event encompasses many things that Paul loved, racing, and philanthropy, Siebkens Resort, the Village of Elkhart Lake and Road America. It is fitting to have this event during the SCCA Runoff's. Paul was a huge contributor to the SCCA and a four time Runoffs champion as a driver. We hope we can keep his love of racing and philanthropy alive by continuing to support his camps."

Tickets are available for the Elkhart Lake Runoff's Charity Dinner, which is being held Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010 at Siebkens Resort. For more information and tickets, please contact Laura Cooper Dusenberry at 708-712-3319 or by email at laura@cooperconsultingevents.com.
