Wings for Life Charity Race
The good cause is the winner: 200,000 euros were raised by celebrity race at Adria

A very entertaining charity race with celebrities at the wheel of the near 275-hp bio natural gas-powered Scirocco cars from the Scirocco R-Cup was won by Volkswagen Management Board Member for Development Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg in front of Philip Neuffer and Walter Mertes (ITR Board Member) in the overall classification. In the celebrities classification football world champion Karl-Heinz Riedle prevailed against TV presenter Gerhard Delling and musician Nino de Angelo. At the show race featuring various celebrities for the benefit of "Wings for Life" during the DTM event at the Adria International Raceway the winners had been determined even before the start - a total of 200,000 euros were donated to the foundation.

Mathew Hodges and Kyle Barnes achieve equal results at East London

Twice on the podium, with each having achieved one victory and one third place - the tally of Mathew Hodges and Kyle Barnes remained equal at rounds 15 and 15 of the Volkswagen Polo Cup South Africa. Hodges secured victory on the 3.921-kilometre track in the south-east of South Africa in the first race whereas Kyle Barnes finished third. In the second race Hodges and Barnes swapped these positions. Second place in the first race went to Miguel Pasqualli and to Graham Donker in the second round. The Volkswagen Polo Cup South Africa will contest its season finale Kyalami on November 27.

Female power in Formula Volkswagen: Tasmin Pepper in front in South Africa

Tasmin Jay Pepper is the woman of the weekend in the South African Formula Volkswagen. The 20-year-old dominated the first race of the junior formula series. The racer who had been fourth overall last year finished the second round as the runner-up. Chad van Beurden and Daniel Rowe had to admit defeat in second and third places in the first race. Only winner Simon Moss beat "TJ," who had clinched the pole position as well, in the second race. Third place in race two of the penultimate race weekend staged at East London went to Ernie van der Walt. The finale will be held jointly with the Volkswagen Polo Cup Kyalami on November 27.

Italy wins in China: exploits for Reggiani and Montesi at Shanghai

The victories of the ninth and tenth races of the Scirocco Cup China season last weekend (23 -24 October) at Shanghai went to Italians. The first round of the Volkswagen one-make cup featuring the 200-hp cup version of the Scirocco was won by Andrea Reggiani - in front of the Chinese Yin Hai Tao and Eric Kwong who hails from Hong Kong. The second race was determined by an Italian too. Stefano Montesi beat his compatriot Reggiani and Kenny Lo from Hong Kong to the finish line. The Scirocco Cup China still has four of the total of 14 races of the season coming up - the rounds at Zhuhai as the partner series of the ILMC (06 - 07 November) and the season finale during the Chinese Touring Car Championship at Guangdong (03 - 04 December).
