Spiering qualifies seventh for Edmonton IHRA finals
EDMONTON, ALBERTA (July 5, 2008) -- Carl Spiering qualified seventh in the 16-car Pro Modified division for final elimination rounds Sunday at the IHRA's CARS RV & Motorsports Rocky Mountain Nationals in Edmonton, Alberta at Castrol Raceway.
Rocky Mountain Nationals Spiering, of Jordan Station, ON, powered his Eaton Cutler-Hammer 1963 Corvette-bodied Pro Modified to a 6.243-second 207.94-mph pass in the third round of qualifying at the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Knoll - Gas Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series.
The fourth round of qualifying was rained out on Saturday night.
Spiering, the winner of the 2005 IHRA ACDelco Canadian Nationals, will face Gary Mason's 1966 Corvette from Dewinton, Alberta in the first round of final eliminations.
Lisa and Monica Spiering, daughters of Carl and his wife Helena, are also competing at the International Hot Rod Association event in their Eaton Powerware sponsored dragsters to a crowd that includes over 500 Eaton customers, distributors, employees and guests.
