J&B Motorsports heads west with updated car and hopes
EDMONTON, Alb. - Armed with an updated chassis and the same dedication that carried them to four final rounds last season, IHRA Torco Pro Nitro Funny Car driver Paul Lee and the Rislone Engine Treatment/J&B Motorsports team head to Western Canada for this weekend's CARS RV & Marine & Motorsports Rocky Mountain Nationals at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alb. Lee and the team hope the new 'pipe' will help turn their 2007 season around.
Lee, from Bala Cynwyd, Pa., always looks forward to the challenge of racing at a new racetrack.
"This will be the first time for us to make the trip out west," said Lee. "This will be the furthest I've ever been from home to race. I hear they have some great crowds out there, so hopefully we can put on a good show for them with this Rislone Chevy Monte Carlo."
With an updated chassis and a new body, Team Owner Jeff McGaffic, of Aliquippa, Pa., is excited about the team's chances this weekend.
"We had our car from last season front halved," explained McGaffic. "We've also put a lighter Monte Carlo body on the car. The car we ran last year was pretty good to us, so hopefully it will like the new pipe. Hopefully we can go out there and make a good showing for Rislone, Zephyr Cleaners and Polishes, Jet - Wilton Metalworking and Material Handling and Smart Washer Bioremediating Parts Washers."
Qualifying begins on Friday, with two more sessions on Saturday. Final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday.
