Spiering qualifies seventh for Grand Bend IHRA finals
GRAND BEND, ONTARIO (July 19, 2008) -- Carl Spiering qualified seventh in the 16-car Pro Modified division for final elimination rounds Sunday at the IHRA's Ninth Annual Mopar Canadian Nationals in Grand Bend, Ontario at the Grand Bend Motorplex.
Canadian Nationals The Jordan Station, Ontario resident powered his Eaton Cutler-Hammer 1963 Corvette-bodied Pro Modified to a 6.130-second 230.45-mph pass in qualifying at the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Knoll - Gas Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series event.
Spiering, the winner of the 2008 IHRA Rocky Mountain Nationals held in Edmonton, Alberta two weeks ago, will face Pat Stoken's 1968 Camaro from Eureka, Montana in the first round of final eliminations.
Lisa and Monica Spiering, daughters of Carl and his wife Helena, are also competing at the International Hot Rod Association event in their Eaton Powerware sponsored dragsters to a crowd that includes over 500 Eaton customers, distributors, employees and guests.
The Ninth Annual Mopar Canadian Nationals International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Knoll-Gas Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series, finals are scheduled to begin on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. at the Grand Bend Motorplex in Grand Bend, Ontario.
