Tough weekend has Rislone FC team ready for next race

GRAND BEND, Ont. - IHRA Torco Pro Nitro Funny Car driver Paul Lee and the Rislone Engine Treatment/J&B Motorsports team are ready to get back on the track following a disappointing outing at this past weekend's Mopar Canadian Nationals presented by Castrol at the Grand Bend Motorplex in Grand Bend, Ont. Extremely hot track conditions on raceday coupled with parts failure lead to an early exit for the team that reached the semifinals of the last stop on the tour in Edmonton, Alb.

Team owner Jeff McGaffic cites the combination of trying a new approach to the tune-up and a lost qualifying run due to parts failure put the team behind the proverbial '8 ball.'

"We had a situation in Grand Bend where there was only eight cars," said McGaffic. "With no threat of not qualifying, we made the decision to try some things in the tune-up. We wanted to get aggressive and make the car run better. Then we broke a reverser and wasn't able to make the second qualifier, which put us further behind. Getting down the track on Sunday was a tough task in itself, so it was just a bad weekend for us. All we can do is learn from it and move on. We're really looking forward to Martin so we can put this behind us. We really want to thank Rislone for sticking with us through tough outings like this, along with our associates like Jet-Wilton Metalworking and Material Handling, Smart Washer, Allied Machine and Engineering, Kimberly Clark and Perryman Specialty Titanium Products. We are very committed to putting this Rislone Monte Carlo back into the late rounds as soon as possible. We don't take outings like this lightly at J&B Motorsports."

Team driver Lee shares McGaffic's sentiments of wanting to get to the next race.

"You're going to have good races and bad races," stated Lee. "This definitely wasn't a good weekend by any standards. You just have to learn what you can from it and move on to the next race. I think as a team we're all looking forward to Martin so we can put this weekend behind us."
