Century Motorsport's Nathan Freke broke the 1/4 mile World best time at Shakespeare Raceway at the weekend in his self prepared Toyota MR2. After setting the European best time in 2007 at 10.41 seconds Nathan has been aiming for the World record ever since. However a number of mechanical gremlins in 2008 meant that he only managed to equal his European time. Perfect conditions at Shakespeare made the record attempt possible and in his third run down the drag strip he passed the 1/d4 mile mark in 9.722 seconds at 148 mph in his 900+ bhp car to beat the previous best set in the USA. Nathan will now take the car to the Ten Of The Best competition at York to defend his title as Champion in the rear wheel drive category.

In between Nathan will make his debut in the British GT race series at Donington Park on the 19th July in his EOS Productions / How's My Driving backed Ginetta G50 co driving with young single seater pilot Benji Hetherington. The 2 hour race at Donington will be a baptism of fire as neither driver has driven the car without the rear wing and Benji has only limited sports car experience. However Nathan is hoping to take the fight to the series leaders in this one off meeting appearance.

'I am on a real high after the wins in the Ginetta G50 Cup and then breaking the record in the MR2, so anything is possible, I am looking forward to the longer racing where pace and consistency are important as is the team support during re fueling and driver changes which could win or lose us the race.' Commented Nathan.
