Haddock Provisional No. 2 in Tulsa
TULSA (August 22, 2008) - Lend America Funny Car driver Terry Haddock jumped to the top of the pack in Friday qualifying at the IHRA Sooner Nationals in Tulsa, Okla. and landed in the No.2 qualifying spot with a 5.090/283.73 pass.
"Everything was running really smoothly to about 1000-feet and felt really good till we broke a blower casing. That's why the mph was down, but we're not worried really about it, because nothing was damaged in the engine at all. The computer showed us that we were on a high 4.90-pass, so we know we've got a lot more in her for tomorrow and Sunday.
"It's awesome going into Saturday relaxed and knowing that you're in the show, and hopefully we can swing for the fence tomorrow," he said.
"We're super excited, and with all the support from Lend America, DJ safety and Dean's Casings, we're ready to go and fight for the championship," Haddock added.
Qualifying continues Saturday with another round at 2 p.m. followed by the final "Night of Fire" qualifying session scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. Final eliminations are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Sunday, August 24.
