New Year Brings New Name for Mansfield Motorsports Park

The New Year that ushers out 2006 and rings in 2007 will also bring with it a new name for what until now has been known as Mansfield Motorsports Speedway. In order to accurately reflect the facility with the addition of a national-level drag strip, owner Mike Dzurilla has decided to make a change to Mansfield Motorsports Park.

"When we had just the oval track here, we were just a speedway," Dzurilla said. "With the addition of the drag strip, we thought long and hard about what we could do to re-brand our facility to reflect what was going on here. Our goal is to offer a wide variety of motorsports and entertainment options. We ran through a lot of options and the one that makes the most sense is the one that describes perfectly what we are, Mansfield Motorsports Park."

The change comes as Dzurilla oversees a change in philosophy with the short track schedule along with the addition of a drag strip on the eastern side of the MMP property.

"We're making a lot of changes in a short period of time," Dzurilla said. "The schedule on the short track is great. We have the perfect mix of events. We want to be seen as a major league facility and I think these events will further position us as one of the premier short tracks in the country. With the drag strip, the IHRA World Nationals are the cornerstone of the schedule. We've even had a few inquiries for 2008 already, which has come as a surprise. It is something that has brought a lot of excitement with the Mansfield Motorsports Park staff, and hopefully it is something else that brings a lot of excitement to the region's motorsports fans."

Season tickets are currently on sale for Mansfield Motorsports Park's oval track, with every event on the schedule included for just $169. Individual tickets for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Ohio 250 are on sale as well, with prices ranging from $40-$55. Individual race tickets for the USAR Hooters Cup Series, USAC National Sprint Car and Midget Car Series, ISMA Supermodified Nationals, and the NASCAR Busch East Series and Whelen Modified Tour Doubleheader will go on sale shortly after the first of the year. For updated ticket information, log on to the track website, www.mansfield-speedway.com, or call the track ticket office at (419) 525-RACE.
