The first half of the DTM's winter break is hardly over and some members of the DTM-community want to use their right foot again already. Now, the countdown to the start of the season is on. And, especially during the winter time, indoor kart races are perfectly suited to get that time round in a sensible way and to remain in training. At the "Karting Cologne" track in Rodenkirchen, the 24 Hours of Cologne will be taking place for the seventh time from January 18 till 19, a great chance for the DTM-fans to see some of their stars from up close.

In the last two years, Bernd Schneider has not only been strong in the DTM, but also during the 24 Hours of Cologne. This year, the Mercedes-Benz works-driver will be present in the Rhine metropolis once more, to defend his title for the third time in a row. In the "Schneider-team", he will be backed by DTM-colleague Thomas Jäger, Christopher Brück, Jörg Hardt (both Formula 3), Maximilian Götz (Formula BMW), Dirk Müller (European touring car championship), Alexander Roloff (Renault Clio Trophy), Rico Zschemisch (Formula Renault), Marcus Gievers, Michael Herich and singer Nino de Angelo as a VIP.

The "Wertgrund-team" also enjoys capable support from the ranks of the DTM-drivers. Nexto to Opel works-driver Timo Scheider and his fiancée Jasmin Rubatto (Toyota Yaris Cup) and Opel motorsport director Volker Strycek, Jörg Müller and Dirk Müller (both European touring car championship), Pierre Kaffer, Maik Heupel (both Porsche Carrera Cup), Marc Basseng (Renault Clio Trophy), Klaus Steinbring, Hans-Werner Wüst (both endurance championship Nürburgring), Peter Hofer and Marcel Jeleniowski will be driving for this team as well. Additionally, Strycek will be driving for the team "TRT-Deutsch u. Sohn".

AMG-chief technician Gerhard Ungar will get seated into a race kart on Saturday afternoon, taking on well-known athletes, actors and TV-presenters like Peter Nottmeier, Helmut Zerlett, Mark Warnecke and Christoph Langen during the VIP-race.
