Scheider and Rockenfeller on the podium

DTM: In front of an impressive crowd of 140,000 spectators (throughout the weekend) Audi put two drivers on the podium at the German finale of the DTM. Timo Scheider as the runner-up achieved his best result of the season. In his 40th DTM race Mike Rockenfeller managed a podium result for the second time in his DTM career. Scheider and Rockenfeller had started from the front row in their Audi A4 DTM cars but in the end had to admit defeat to Paul Di Resta who was running on a different strategy with later pit stops. Mattias Ekstrom became entangled in a mass collision on the starting lap and thus lost his last chance of winning the title.

Successful debut of the Audi TT RS

VLN: The new Audi TT RS, which may possibly extend the Audi customer sport program in the future, made a successful debut. Christoph Breuer, Marc Hennerici and Christopher Mies achieved a much-noted eighth place overall and victory in the SP 4T class at the ninth round of the Endurance Championship. On its first laps on the legendary Nurburgring-Nordschleife the prototype fielded by the Raeder Motorsport team, which is jointly developed by the Technical Development (TE) and Production divisions of AUDI AG and quattro GmbH, immediately ran without the slightest technical problem.

Title for the Audi R8 LMS in Spain

GT Spain: The Portuguese Cesar Campanico and João Pedro Figueiredo secured the title in the GTS class at the season finale of the Spanish GT Championship at Jerez in their Audi R8. In Saturday's round the drivers from the Novadriver Total team finished fourth, on Sunday they managed the leap onto the podium in third place.

Audi driver clinch podium place

GT France: Wilfried Merafina and Christophe Bouchut with a second- and a sixth-place finish at the season finale of the French GT Championship were the most successful of the total of six Audi teams that contested the race. The driver pairing from Team Sainteloc-Phoenix Racing merely had to admit defeat by 5.8 seconds in the first round at Magny-Cours. Valuable points were scored as well by the two GT3 sports cars of the ORECA team. Bruno Hernandez and Soheil Ayari came fourth in both races respectively, their team colleagues David Hallyday and Stephane Ortelli occupied fifth place twice in their Audi R8 LMS.

Phoenix Racing fast but unfortunate

VLN: With a sixth-place finish Sean Paul Breslin, Sean Patrick Breslin and Kenneth Heyer from the Black Falcon Racing team clinched the best position of an Audi R8 LMS at the ninth round of the Endurance Championship Nurburgring season. For Team Phoenix Racing on the other hand this was another round that ended on an unfortunate note. Frank Stippler and Marc Basseng were leading the race on several laps in their Audi R8 LMS but retired after an accident while running in second place. This was the fourth accident in a row for Phoenix Racing.

News bits

The former Audi "factory" driver John Bintcliffe will contest the 2011 British GT Championship for Team United Autosports in an Audi R8 LMS. His team partner will be Jay Palmer ... The Melbourne-based Audi dealer Penfold will be the official vehicle partner of the Australian GT Championship in 2011.
