Audi makes Le Mans history again

Le Mans: In front of 238,400 spectators Audi achieved a historic one-two-three victory at the Le Mans 24 Hours: all three Audi R15 TDI cars entered by Audi Sport Team Joest surpassed the record distance, considered to be unbeatable, which the Porsche 917 completed in 1971 when the Hunaudières Straight at Le Mans had no chicanes. The three Audi R15 TDI cars ran without the slightest technical problem at the fastest race in Le Mans history. Timo Bernhard, Romain Dumas and Mike Rockenfeller celebrated their first Le Mans victory. For Audi, it was the ninth victory at Le Mans - and the first one achieved with VTG turbo-charging.

Podium result for the Audi R8 LMS

VLN: By merely 0.240 seconds Frank Stippler and Hans-Joachim Stuck in the Audi R8 LMS of the Phoenix Racing team missed victory at round four of the VLN Endurance Championship at the Nurburgring. As early as on the second lap Frank Stippler moved to the front of the field. The Audi duo extended its lead to one minute. Fog and rain, however, caused the group of the front runners to move closer together in the final phase. On the last lap, Hans-Joachim Stuck fought a captivating duel with the subsequent winner Chris Mamerow. Stuck merely had to settle for second place on the final meters.
