Juncadella at a loss to explain "depressing" season

The Spaniard, who is in his fourth season in the DTM, is currently 22th in the drivers' championship, his only points so far coming from an eighth-place finish in the Saturday race at Zandvoort.

At Moscow Raceway, Juncadella started the Saturday race from the back of the grid and had to drop away from the pack due to a windshield wiper issue, although he did record the fastest lap.

"Feels just weird, I'm so pissed off with everything. I cannot understand why all of this, this tough luck, is happening," Juncadella told Motorsport.com. "Makes me go crazy, but on the other hand I want to cool down a bit, 'cause the car is really good.

"Free practice, really strong again, then qualy - wrong strategy and then another driver damaged my last two laps on a drying track, so I couldn't do a lap. And then, in the race, my wiper broke, I couldn't drive behind cars, I was going to retire but they said 'just leave a 20-second gap and drive, see how it feels'. And, yeah, fastest lap.

"It's disappointing, overall, depressing, disappointing, everything. But we cannot do anything about it - we know the car is strong, the driver is strong, the engineering part is also strong. We just need to get it right once in qualifying, then it's fine. This championship, it's so tough, if you don't qualify in front, there's no chance."

Juncadella said that a change of chassis at Zandvoort has resulted in a significant increase in pace, but that has not yet translated into headline results.

"There's been some big changes in Zandvoort, I've had a different chassis since the burnt chassis before. The pace has been amazing, we've been good for poles and good results.

"[There are] things you cannot really control and it's better not to go crazy about it and that's how it is. Hopefully one day it works.

"The car is really good now, so [a good result] has to happen. I don't think I'm going to be that unlucky to not get a chance to get a good result.

Regarding his chances of remaining in the DTM next year, Juncadella said: "No idea. I'm focusing on getting a good result this year, it's what I'm expecting this year. I'm basically at the part of the championship standings where I was never thinking about, that it would be that bad.

"I just try to go race by race and try to enjoy it because the way it is now, it's not fun, you know, when all these things happen. But it is how it is, it's racing."
