Since being dropped by McLaren last month, Magnussen had also tested for Porsche's WEC squad at Catalunya, but the Dane's hopes of a seat were dashed by the German manufacturer's decision to trim its Le Mans 24 Hours line-up back to two cars for 2016.
Now the 23-year-old will get to sample Mercedes' C63 DTM at Jerez, along with GP2 racer Marciello - who is expected to be imminently dropped by the Ferrari junior scheme - Maro Engel, Jazeman Jaafar, Mikkel Jensen and Marvin Kirchhofer.
Engel is no stranger to DTM machinery, having been part of Mercedes' race line-up from 2008 to 2011. More recently, he won the FIA GT World Cup race in Macau driving a Mercedes SLS AMG GT3.
Formula Renault 3.5 driver Jaafar also has links to Mercedes via his sponsor Petronas, while Jensen and Kirchhofer have competed in European F3 and GP3 this year respectively, the former with Mercedes power.
Also getting an outing in Mercedes' DTM car on Monday, before the young driver test begins in earnest on Tuesday, will be Sebastian Asch and Luca Ludwig as a reward for winning the ADAC GT Masters series.
