Gounon on pole at Donington

Jean-Marc Gounon stole pole position for the Donington Park round of the Le Mans Endurance Series in the closing seconds of the qualifying session. The Courage Competition Mugen driver set the fastest time early in the twenty-minute session and retook this position on his final lap to qualify first by one tenth of a second. "I wanted to be in front", said Gounon. "I am here to prove that Courage have a very quick car."

Stefan Johansson also lines up on the front row in his Zytek Motorsport. Johansson went ahead of Gounon by just two thousandths of a second midway through the session and look set to take this place until Gounon put in a last-minute flyer to go ahead. Jean-Christophe Boullion qualified the Pascarolo Sport Judd in third position after taking to the track midway through the session and exchanging times with Jamie Campbell-Walter in the Creation Autosportif Judd who ultimately finished fourth

Tommy Erdos took pole position in the LM P2 class with a time fast enough for eighth place overall. The RML MG Lola driver went fastest at the start of the session and responed to late pressure to eventually set a 1m 21.557s lap. He was pushed hard by Stuart Moseley in the Team Bruichladdich Radical Judd who qualified second in the class, and Sam Hancock in the Binnie Motorsports Lola Zytek completes the top three.
