LMS- JMW Motorsport Ferrari victorious at Estoril, but the title is already with AF Corse
Maranello, 25 September – Victory in the Estoril 6 Hours, the fifth and final round of the Le Mans Series, went to the JMW Motorsport Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 of Robert Bell-James Walker which, having started from pole, took the win in the LM GTE class, beating the Team Felbermayr Proton Porsche and that of the IMSA Performance Matmut team into second and third places respectively. The AF Corse Ferrari nº 71, crewed by Jaime Melo and Toni Vilander came home fourth, flying the flag for the championship winning team, after they had taken the title at Silverstone. The Italian team’s GT2 car in the hands of Gianmaria Bruni and Giancarlo Fisichella, had to retire in the early stages of the race, with a technical problem, but they too had already taken the championship title. The LM GTE Am class, AF Corse however had to settle for a fourth place courtesy of the Perazzini-Cioci-Lemeret F430 GTC, with the win going to Armindo-Narac of the IMSA Performance Matmut team, who also took the title in that category.
