Home race sees Gregor Fisken secure his best result of season
Scottish racing driver Gregor Fisken, alongside co-drivers Greg Franchi and Steve Zacchia, achieved his best result of the 2007 Le Mans Series season at the Silverstone 1000kms last weekend.
The Larbre Competition drivers piloted their Fiskens-sponsored Aston Martin DBR9 to fourth place in the GT1 class of the championship after holding off a determined late charge from the Luc Alphand Adventures Corvette C6.R driven by works driver Oliver Gavin.
Fisken, Franchi, and Zacchia all drove consistent stints, whilst the car ran without any major problems. Some misfortune behind the race's first Safety Car, which cost the car a lap, meant that they couldn't catch the second Luc Alphand Corvette for third position, although fourth represented a satisfying end to the European-stage of the championship.
A happy Gregor Fisken said: "It's been a good day for us. We were very close to a podium finish and although we profited a little from our rivals' misfortune, we had a very clean race. Everyone put in a really good effort and I'm delighted to score this result at my home circuit."
Team Principal Jack Leconte added: "The drivers of Car 51 have gelled together well this season so I'm really pleased for them to get this result. We pushed hard and the average lap time was on the pace of the cars ahead. In the final stint we fought hard to keep ahead of Oliver Gavin's Corvette and everyone was delighted to cross the line in fourth."
