Seventh place for Quifel ASM Team

The Spa Francorchamps race did not go as well as it might have for the Quifel ASM Team, which ended it in tenth place. The Portuguese team suffered several setbacks on the Belgian track and was unable to take the Gynetta Zytek 09s to a podium finish. Miguel Pais do Amaral and Olivier Pla did everything within their grasp to gain a good position in the LMP2 class, and at one point were racing in second place.

Quifel ASM Team ascended seventh after the exclusion of three teams, the Radical SR9 of Bruichladdich-Bruneau, the Lola-Judd of Racing Box and the Zytek da Barazi-Epsilon.

Despite the final result, the team showed that the car was very competitive and the best lap in the class with a time of 2:09.120 is proof of the value of the team's single-seater. "We wanted a better result. We know that this is the race to prepare for the Le Mans 24-hour race and so it was important to race at a better level. But we also know that this is a new car and adapting it to each race is always a novelty," said Miguel Pais do Amaral at the end of the race.

Antonio Simões, the team's director, was also not happy with the final result, "this race was marked by a lot of interruptions and that does not help with tuning the car or getting the best results. But we are now going to focus on the race of the year, the Le Mans 24 hours."

French driver, Olivier Pla was also unhappy with the result, but showed he had confidence in the car and in the team's work. "The choice of the Zytek 09 was a very important step for the team. This car guarantees us other possibilities and greater competitiveness. The best lap in our class demonstrates that, we are at the same level as the best of them."

The team is due to take part in the Le Mans 24 hour race and hopes to reach a podium place, after finishing fourth last year. On the weekend of the 13th and 14th June, Guy Smith will join the team for the legendary race. The English driver achieved an important position in the Le Mans series championship in the United States and has won on the French track.
