Krohn Racing will start from sixth place overall on the grid for tomorrow’s 4 Hours of Red Bull Ring, the third round of the 2016 European Le Mans Series. Olivier Pla posted a best lap of 1:21.297 in the team’s Nissan-powered Ligier JS P2 during the Qualifying session but lost time on what would have been a quicker lap as a car spun in front of him. The team made steady progress with the car during the two Free Practice sessions, concentrating on optimizing the setup for tomorrow’s race. The Qualifying performance confirms the progress made and the team approaches the event with confidence.

Tracy W. Krohn, Krohn Racing Team Owner/Driver: “Oli did a great job in Qualifying, he didn’t get his optimal lap, a car spun out in front of him on his last lap and he probably had another three-tenths in hand. We’re right where we wanted to be for the race. I think we’ve a very good race car, during the last practice session we learned a lot about the car. The car got better and better, we continue to improve with every single practice session, so we’re going in the right direction. We’re changing the right things, we’ll probably have one or two minor changes for the race and then see how it works out tomorrow. Hopefully we’ll have some different weather conditions to test as well.”

Olivier Pla, Driver Krohn Racing: “I’m a little bit disappointed about Qualifying, from the beginning of the weekend we have had a straight line speed problem, not sure what the cause is but we are losing time and that doesn’t help. Aside from that, the car was good, strong in most sectors, let’s see what we can do tomorrow. I think we’ve a good race car which is important. The race will be very tight as it is very competitive at the front, so we’ll have to push from the beginning and stay out of trouble and have a good strategy, we’ll see.”

Jeff Glover, Team Manager Krohn Racing: “Well, we’re slightly down on top speed, so honestly this Qualifying result is about what I expected. But for the race top speed is less important and the team has built a solid car, Lee’s done a great job engineering it, and the Michelin tires are giving us good grip, so we should be strong tomorrow.”

Lee Penn, Race Engineer Krohn Racing: “I was very happy with Qualifying, we’d made some set-up changes to the car, it was much better. Oli struggled a little bit with the rear of the car at the start but once the tire pressures came up it was very good and he was very happy with the balance of the car. We’ve got a good race car for tomorrow. Tracy has put in some good lap times and been very consistent, so we’re quite hopeful for the race.”
