The World Motorsport Council of the FIA, assembled in Doha, Qatar, officially approved the application for full international status for the 24H SERIES powered by Hankook. This means that, starting with the tenth anniversary edition of the Hankook 24H DUBAI (January 8-10, 2015), championship points for drivers and teams, as well as for the special Ladies’ Cup, can now be officially awarded for all races counting towards the series.

“We are delighted with this news, because it gives another boost to our rapidly growing series,” says Gerrie Willems on behalf of CREVENTIC. The Dutch agency, in co-operation with the Dutch National Racing Team (DNRT), is the organiser and promoter of the 24H SERIES powered by Hankook. “We would like to express our thanks to everyone involved in this process, especially to the Dutch national federation KNAF, who have been instrumental in this next step in our development.”

Although CREVENTIC and the DNRT were very quick to announce the dates for their events planned for 2015, some potential date clashes with other endurance race events in Europe have come up. In order to enable teams and drivers to participate in as many races as possible, solutions are currently being sought to avoid these date clashes. The events involved are the Hankook 12H ZANDVOORT (initially planned for 24-25 April, 2015), and the Hankook 12H HUNGARY (originally scheduled for 2-3 October, 2015). Negotiations with different parties involved are currently ongoing and a revised calendar for the 2015 24H SERIES powered by Hankook will be published in the upcoming weeks.

95 cars and equipment en route to Dubai

Meanwhile, 95 cars and equipment from the teams participating in the tenth anniversary edition of the Hankook 24H DUBAI are underway to the United Arab Emirates. Most cargo was shipped from the port of Rotterdam at the end of last week while transports from other ports also left for Dubai. “It is always thrilling to see the anticipation from the team members when they deliver their cars and equipment to be loaded into the containers. Thanks to our Eimskip, our official logistics partner, everything ran very smoothly,” says Daphne Gengler, CREVENTIC’s logistics event manager.

More good news about the first major international endurance race of the new calendar year is that Motors TV will be providing live TV coverage of the full 24-hour race at Dubai Autodrome. “Of course, this is another great step forward for our race,” says Gerrie Willems. “Motors TV has been a very loyal partner of our events over the years and we are very glad that, next to our online coverage, we can now offer another excellent way to follow the entire race for all those motorsport fans who can’t be in Dubai themselves.”

Sophisticated equipment, including drones to generate thrilling shots from above, will be used to capture the action throughout the Hankook 24H DUBAI. On-board cameras will be installed in selected cars to allow the viewers of Motors TV to follow the action from a driver’s perspective. The Radio Show Limited commentary team, well-known from Radio Le Mans, will provide commentary. More information about the 24H SERIES powered by Hankook can be found at: www.24hseries.com.
