Kuno Wittmer takes 23rd place in 24 Hours of the Nürburgring
Canadian Kuno Wittmer took part in the gruelling 24 Hours of the Nürburgring last weekend.
In fact, Wittmer was the sole Canadian enetred in the event. Heiko Hammel qualified the GTronix 360 Team Renault RS01 in 26th place overall with a time of 8:15.3.
The entire crew worked hard before the race and during it to extract the maximum potential of this Cup car, which was not at all amongst the fastest. Additionally, fog and rain made the conditions quite difficult. The No. 35 Renault, nicknamed “Chappie” completed 127 of the mighty Nürburging road course in 24 hours, and finished eight laps down to the overall winners who drive a Porsche 911 GT3 R.
“We finished this mammoth of a 24-hour in 23rd overall and second in the SP-X class,” Wittmer declared after the race.
“I’m very pleased to have driven for this team and I’ve enjoyed the RS01. Hats off to my teammates Dieter Schmidtmann (aka Danny Kubasik) and Heiko Hammel for their brilliant work behind the wheel.”
