The Kiwi, set to win his first Supercars title on the streets of Homebush early next month, will jet straight over to Malaysia after the Sydney 500 where he will join fellow McLaren factory drivers Come Ledogar and Alvaro Parente in a K-PAX Racing 650S.

Van Gisbergen will go into the race in the hunt for the Intercontinental GT Challenge, sitting just six points behind Audi driver Laurens Vanthoor.

"I am really looking forward to the Sepang 12 Hours," said van Gisbergen.

"It's been an awesome year for McLaren in GT racing with race and championship wins across the world, and to be a Kiwi and a part of it is very special.

“The intercontinental GT Challenge trophy is up for grabs, hopefully we can have a good result and finish this year on a high."

Van Gisbergen and Parents have already tasted success together this season, combining to win the Bathurst 12 Hour – the opening round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge – back in February.

Ledogar and van Gisbergen, meanwhile, took out the 2016 Blancpain Endurance title along with Rob Bell.

It may well be van Gisbergen’s last outing as a McLaren factory driver, clashes between the Supercars and Blancpain Endurance calendar next season set to rule him out of another full-time deal.
