Reddy secures Euroformula Open drive with Carlin
Tarun Reddy will step up to Euroformula Open in 2017 with renowned British outfit Carlin, it has been announced.
After finishing sixth in last year’s British Formula 3 championship with four podium finishes, Reddy had been looking for a pan-European series to take the next step in the junior series ladder.
The 18-year-old had GP3 on the back of his mind after completing post-season tests with DAMS and Koiranen outfit in 2016.
However, it has now been announced that Reddy will instead be driving in Euroformula Open, an eight-round championship with performance similar to F3.
He will team up with fellow countryman Ameya Vaidyanathan and Canada's Devlin DeFrancesco.
“I’m thrilled to be racing in EuroFormula Open this year with Carlin as it’s a fantastic opportunity,” said Reddy.
“I’ll be giving everything I can to deliver the best results possible. This is another big new challenge, with new circuits to learn, and I’m confident we will have a strong season.”
Team boss Trevor Carlin added: “We are very pleased to have Tarun on board with us for the upcoming season in the Euro Formula Championship,.
“I believe that it is the perfect championship to move on from after a solid rookie season racing in the BRDC British Formula Three Championship.
“It will be a challenge for him to race in Europe for the very first time but I have confidence in his ability.”
Prior to his stellar debut season in British F3, Reddy competed in Protyre Formula Renault Series and MSA Formula in the UK, bagging a podium finish in each of the two championships.
He started his racing career in India, winning the MRF F1600 National Racing Championship in 2014.
The first round of EuroFormula Open is scheduled this weekend in Portugal, with Reddy only having two days of testing to get to grips with the Dallara F312.
