Player's Ltd. Racing Press Release

Player's Ltd. Racing was informed today by Jacques Villeneuve's Agent Craig Pollock that Jacques will compete in the Formula One World Driving Championship in the 1996 season.

"While we will miss having Jacques as a member of our team," said Chris de Minckwitz, Player's Ltd. Marketing Communications Manager, "Clearly he and the entire Green racing organization have demonstrated a high degree of racing professionalism and talent; we are proud to have made what we believe is a contribution to the development of Canadian drivers by providing a program which permits them to compete at the very highest level of racing. We wish Jacques much success in 1996," Mr. de Minckwitz added.

In advising Mr. Pollock of his decision, Jacques said, "this was one of the toughest decisions I have ever had to make. I am honored to have been associated with Player's Ltd., Barry Green and the entire crew. They are a first class team and they gave me the opportunity to gain valuable experience." He added that they had developed a close friendship which, in his opinion, was rare in racing and he was confident the team will have a successful future.

Driving for Player's Ltd./Team Green, Villeneuve has dominated the 1995 season so far, by capturing four races. His achievements include becoming the only Canadian to win the Indy 500.

With only four IndyCar races remaining on the schedule, Jacques currently leads the standings with 141 points. He was both the IndyCar and Indy 500 Rookie of the Year in 1994.

"It is with mixed emotions that we have learned of Jacques decision," said team owner Barry Green. "Obviously, we are saddened to lose Jacques as a member of our team but at the same time we are proud that we have made a significant contribution to his development."

"Jacques is one of the most talented drivers I have ever worked with and he will be a star in Formula One," concluded Green.

Villeneuve is racing at Mid-Ohio this weekend and his final Canadian IndyCar appearance will be at the Molson Indy Vancouver during Labour Day weekend.
