U.S. GRAND PRIX RETURNS TO THE GLEN WITH F1 REUNION F1 TO HIGHLIGHT ZIPPO U.S. VINTAGE GRAND PRIX

Watkins Glen, NY (October 27, 1999) - As the United States prepares for the return of Formula One to Indianapolis, Watkins Glen, America's original home to the U.S. Grand Prix, announced it will be hosting a Formula One reunion September 8-10. Track president Bryan Sperber announced the reunion at a year 2000 season schedule press conference on October 27.

"Like all racing fans in America, we are tremendously excited to see the return of Formula One racing to the United States," said Sperber. "But, everyone knows that when you talk about the history of the U.S. Grand Prix and Formula One in America, up until now you'd think of only one place, Watkins Glen. We can now celebrate the return of F1 racing to America by taking a fantastic trip through those classic October weekends at Watkins Glen."

The Formula One reunion will have competitors racing for the New York Governor's Cup on Sunday of the Zippo U.S. Vintage Grand Prix at Watkins Glen, organized by the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA).

"The Zippo U.S. Vintage Grand Prix has become one of the most well-known vintage racing events in the United States," said SVRA president, Clair Schuler. "Having a Formula One reunion at The Glen, the birth-place of American Road Racing and the U.S. Grand Prix, will make for an excellent weekend and we are expecting a tremendous turnout."

Steve Earle, promoter of the world famous Monterey Historics, will be helping Watkins Glen and the SVRA to assemble a complete field of Formula One cars.

In addition to the Formula One reunion, the weekend's schedule includes a "Lotus Clash" headline event on Saturday. The Lotus Clash will commemorate the 30th anniversary of Emerson Fittipaldi's first career F1 victory driving a Lotus at Watkins Glen in the U.S. Grand Prix.

Tickets for the September 8-10 Zippo U.S. Vintage Grand Prix featuring a Formula One reunion are available now. For ticket, camping or additional information please contact the Watkins Glen ticket office at 607-535-2481 or log onto the official website at www.theglen.com .
