Jordan Grand Prix is fighting the claims of its former star driver, Heinz-Harald Frentzen, in court.
As reported by Autosport, the German veteran driver is seeking a past due payment of US$30,000, as well as some US$7.5 million for lost future income.
Frentzen's contract for the 2001 season was approximately US$7.5 million, and was set to increase to over US$8 million for the 2002 season, including not only racing and testing but also promitional appearances.
Subsequent to being dismissed by the team prior to the German Grand Prix, the 34-year-old German switched to Prost for the remainder of the season, on a strictly incentive-based contract. This contract will pay Frentzen only expenses, unless he scores a top-six finish -- in which case he will earn US$100,000 for each World Championship point.
Frentzen, a veteran of 129 Grands Prix with Sauber, Williams and Jordan, has three Formula One wins to his credit.
