Two-time Formula 1 World Champion Mika Hakkinen celebrated the 20th anniversary of his first title by receiving a Gregor Grant lifetime achievement honour at the 2018 Autosport Awards evening in London’s Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane on Sunday.

In this video, former McLaren star Hakkinen recalls his high-speed rivalry with Michael Schumacher, including that incredible pass in the 2000 Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps – with a little help from compere David Croft and presenter Martin Brundle.

Brundle also asks him if it’s true that he used to own a pet tortoise…
