The Lotus 72 won two Formula 1 World Drivers’ Championships and three Constructors’ titles between 1970 and 1973.

In this video, Giorgio Piola talks about his fantastic illustration of the 72D and the innovations it brought to the sport. Then Emerson Fittipaldi – who was crowned champion in 1972 – gives his views about what he describes as the best car he ever drove.

Fittipaldi also discusses what it was like to work with the legendary Lotus founder and designer Colin Chapman, and how he’s looking forward to being reunited with his chassis, Number 5, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this year.
