One star performer received a maximum score from Formula 1's second visit to the Red Bull Ring in as many weeks, but there were several below par performers who will be happy to see the back of the Austrian track

Lewis Hamilton – 10

Set-up experiments meant Hamilton finished FP2 a low-key sixth and was in danger of starting there had the weather been any more severe in qualifying. But in the end the rain meant he could show his absolute class – with his whopping 1.216s pole margin demonstrating his superiority. Was near-faultless in the race, beyond one Turn 3 slip, and never looked like losing.

Valtteri Bottas – 8

Qualifying again proved to be Bottas’s undoing when considering the top marks, as he wound up behind Verstappen and behind Sainz on the grid. Mercedes said the glazed right-front brake hampered him, but he nevertheless felt he should have been better. Also took a long time to reach and beat Verstappen in what was clearly faster car.
