Mercedes is currently under immense pressure by not only the media, but their own drivers. This is mainly because of what happened during the Belgian GP when Nico Rosberg hit teammate Lewis Hamilton, puncturing his left rear tyre and ruining his race.

This gave Rosberg some breathing room over his teammate in terms of points. The lead is up to 30 markers, which took one DNF on Nico's part and a few wins by Lewis to catch up when a similar gap existed earlier this season. With their issues, Red Bull's star driver could jump in and potentially steal the show. No, we're not talking about Sebastien Vettel here. We mean Daniel Ricciardo.

They won't even see it coming

The main concentration of Robserg and Hamilton has become each other. Their focus has been shifted away from their cars and that could has disastrous consequences.

While all this drama is being played out between both Rosberg and Hamilton, they could be blind-sided by the hard-charging Aussie who has capitalized every time the Mercedes team has stumbled. Ricciardo is just hiding in the shadows, ready to pounce at every Grand Prix.

Double points

When it comes to Abu Double (Abu Dhabi GP), Ricciardo could possibly close the margin enough to be in the running at the finale. In case you are uninformed, in this year's Abu Dhabi GP, for the first time ever, there are going to double points awarded. Ricciardo is currently 64 points adrift of the lead.

Yes, it seems like a lot for such an under-performing car in comparison to the Mercedes team, but with such drama between those two, it could very well result in an incredible turn of events. I can assure you by the time the drivers reach Abu Dhabi, they will have to fear the Red Bull driver.

In conclusion

Mercedes need to figure out a way to calm both their drivers, even if they're going to have to bring team orders back. If this team, which is so far out ahead implodes and throws away the driver's championship, it could end in at least one of the drivers leaving or getting sacked.
