UPDATE: Schumacher still in coma following skiing accident

Seven-time World Champion Michael Schumacher remains in critical condition following a skiing accident at the Méribel resort in the French Alps.
The 44-year-old German driver underwent a single neurosurgical procedure immediately upon arriving at the trauma center at Grenoble Hospital on Sunday and has remained in an artificial coma while doctors give care.
During a Monday morning press conference, doctors at the Grenoble hospital where the German driver is being treated said they were working "hour by hour" and that it was still too early to make a prognosis.
During the surgery, doctors worked to remove brain hemorrhaging, treat intracranial pressure and found severe lesions on Schumacher's brain, said Dr. Jean-Francois Payen.
Doctors were clear to note that the helmet Schumacher was wearing indeed helped him survive the violent impact.
Following the incident, Schumacher was immediately airlifted first to the Hospital of Moutiers before being transferred to the trauma center at Grenoble Hospital for the surgery and more intensive care.
According to Méribel director Christophe Gernignon-Lecomte, Schumacher was skiing off piste with his son Mick when the accident happened.
