Orange Arrows have announced Heinz Harald Frentzen will partner Enrique Bernoldi for 2002, leaving Jos Verstappen without a race seat. The decision has been long awaited -- despite Verstappen signing a contract with Arrows for 2002 last year, the team were keen to have Frentzen on board. Frentzen became available after the collapse of Prost Grand Prix last month and although Verstappen's manager, Huub Rothengatter, was adamant the Dutchman would continue with Arrows, this is no longer the case.

"Despite all rumours of the last few weeks I am absolutely flabbergasted." Said Rothengatter. "Officially we have not had any notification and I am unpleasantly surprised with the press statement on the Arrows site. I have been in Formula 1 for over 20 years but I have not experienced anything like this. It means we will be extremely busy the next coming weeks. To be continued...."

Verstappen, who is now rumoured to be possibly heading for Toyota to head the test team, had little to say about the announcement.

"I haven't heard anything from the team yet," he commented, "Huub Rothengatter told me about the 'news' on the Arrows site. I am very disappointed. No more comments from me right now I have to let it sink in for a while."
