Force India heads to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix with fourth place in the championship already in the bag.
2017 has proven to be Force India’s most successful season in F1, with the Silverstone-based team having already crossed its 2016 tally of 173 points.
However, unlike the past three seasons, Force India is yet to score a podium in 2017. Both Sergio Perez and Ocon were in contention for a rostrum in Azerbaijan - or perhaps a surprise win - but a collision between the pairing proved quite costly in the end.
Abu Dhabi is unlikely to provide an opportunity to the Force India drivers to make up for their Baku accident, but a top-line result is definitely on the cards.
The Vijay Mallya-led team will continue to evaluate new parts on its car to prepare for 2018, while Mercedes junior George Russell will again be seen behind the wheels of the VJM10 in FP1.
Arjun Maini would like to end his first full season in GP3 on a high note at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.
Maini scored a maiden victory in the opening round of the season in Barcelona, but his results have been largely inconsistent then.
The previous round in Jerez was particularly difficult, with the 19-year-old finishing outside the points.
Abu Dhabi provides the Jenzer driver with the last opportunity to showcase his potential and possibly overtake eighth-placed Ryan Tveter in the standings. Maini currently sits nine points adrift of the American in the points table, with 53 points on board.
India’s most revered rally driver Gaurav Gill will have home advantage when he fights for a third APRC title later this week in Chikmagalur.
Gill will arrive in the coffee estates of Karnataka, where he won last time out in 2016, with a narrow six-point advantage over MRF teammate Ole Christian Veiby.
The Norwegian has shown strong performances throughout the season and will put on a tough challenge to Gill, being the only other driver in contention for the overall crown.
Veiby also benefits from being a factory Skoda driver, which means he get to spend significantly more time in the Fabia R5 than Gill.
The fourth round of the Indian Rally Championship will take place concurrently to APRC in Chikmagalur.
Some of the fastest Indian rally drivers will take part in the event, with the exception of Gill who would have his hands full with APRC.
He would be replaced by former Mahindra driver Philippos Matthai, who returned from a self-imposed sabbatical last month at the Raid de Himalaya.
The Chikmagalur round will also see Toyota enter the INRC fold with a pair of newly-prepared Etios Liva cars. While the #24 car will have an all Japanese crew, the sister #26 machine will be piloted by Umesh V Malashetti and co-driver Somaish.
