Force India (F1 Malaysian Grand Prix)

The Malaysian Grand Prix is the second of the seven ‘flyaway’ races that will bring an end to the 2017 Formula 1 season.

Following recent upgrades and a double points finish in Singapore, including a fifth for Sergio Perez, Force India heads to the Malaysia in an upbeat mood.

While team principal Vijay Mallya has admitted that the Sepang International Circuit will not be the “strongest circuit of the year” for the VJM10, the Indian outfit will nevertheless be hoping to get both cars into points.

With rain forecast over the weekend, there might be a possibility to sneak a podium result.

Ameya Vaidyanathan (EuroFormula Open Monza, Italy)

Ameya Vaidyanathan has been the big surprise package of 2017, having turned himself from an occasional headline-grabber into a consistent, top-level driver.

With one victory and a podium finish, he sits third in the EuroFormula Open standings and within striking distance of second-placed Nikita Triotskiy.

Although Vaidyanathan had a difficult outing in Monza last year, there’s no reason to believe why he can’t be competitive this time around.

Tarun Reddy (EuroFormula Open Monza, Italy)

Tarun Reddy showed a lot of promise in last year’s British F3 championship, but a late move to join EuroFormula Open without testing has backfired so far.

During the summer break, he moved from Carlin to Drivex hoping for a change of fortunes. However, a double retirement in Silverstone hardly suggested a reversal of trend for the 18-year-old.

22 points in five rounds aren’t a true reflection of the Chennai-born driver’s pace, but things can only go better for him in the final three rounds of the season.

Nayan Chatterjee (Formula 4 South East Asia)

Nayan Chatterjee will take part in the opening round of the Formula 4 South East Asia Championship, which will run as a support event to the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Chatterjee has been looking for a seat in the series since last year, but decided to delay his decision until the grid size was big enough.

Having proven his mettle in the JK Tyre's Euro JK series, it would be interesting to see how he competes with some of the best emerging drivers from Asia.

National Motorcycle Championship (Chennai)

The 2017 season of National Motorcycle Championship will come to a conclusion this weekend at Chennai’s Madras Motor Race Track.

In the flagship Super Sport 165cc category, Honda’s Rajiv Sethu and TVS’ Jagan Kumar are separated by just one point, with the former having the smallest of advantages heading into the final round.

Amarnath Menon enjoys a far better 39 point buffer in the Super Sport 300-400cc category, while Aravind Balakrishnan is likewise the championship favourite in the Pro Stock class.

Aishwarya Pissay has already sealed the first ever National Ladies title.

Apart from the National categories, Honda and TVS will also host the final rounds of their one-make championships. Yamaha will also be running running their own racing series.
