May 01 marks the 30th anniversary of Ayrton Senna’s first win with McLaren.  It came at Imola in 1988, when the MP4-4, a study in functional beauty, lapped the opposition in the hands of Senna and Alain Prost.  The MP4-4 was designed by Steve Nichols, Matthew Jeffreys, David North and Bob Bell, with Gordon Murray overseeing the project as Technical Director.  This video includes memories from Tim Wright, who engineered the test and spare MP4-4s in both Europe and Japan.  He was there, at the Imola test, when Ayrton first drove the car….
