Aragon F3.5: Dillmann on pole despite losing best lap

Tom Dillmann was quickest in the Sunday Formula V8 3.5 qualifying at Aragon, scoring his second pole position in the series despite having his fastest lap deleted due to track limits.

The Frenchman was the early pace-setter in the session, improving with every lap and completing the first set of flyers by two and seven hundredths ahead of Egor Orudzhev and Louis Deletraz respectively.

The latter duo quickly lowered the benchmark by half a second as the second stint started but Dillmann was back in first in no time.

Albeit Dillmann's final and quickest effort was deleted due to a track limits infringement at Turn 9, the AVF driver still finished the session with a lead of two tenths from Aurelien Panis, the fellow Frenchman taking second with a last-minute lap.

Panis edged out Deletraz and Arden teammate Orudzhev by 0.024s and 0.046s respectively as Matthieu Vaxiviere completed the top five.

Force India protege Alfonso Celis will line up sixth on the grid, followed by GP2 converts Rene Binder and Johnny Cecotto.

Teo Martin Motorsport duo Beitske Visser and Yu Kanamaru made up the top 10.
