I.S.R. endured an unlucky Saturday in Le Castellet, where F.Renault 3.5 is holding the 8th round of the championship.
The Czech team's struggles started already in the morning Qualifying effort, a session that saw Christopher Zanella finish in P16 after being slowed down by some traffic right when his tyres were providing the best performance.
Starting from Row 8 the Swiss talent was ready for a difficult Race 1, but he was still determined to do a good job.Things seemed to be going to plan after a very good getaway that allowed him to climb to P13 but then, on lap 2, Christopher was forced to park his car trackside due to some gearbox woes.
The team's other car remained parked in the garage as it already did yesterday, waiting for Sergey Sirotkin to return from Sochi where he took part in an F.1 demo run with Sauber.
Christopher Zanella (Q1 - P16; R1 – DNF): "The day didn't start too well as we couldn't make the most of our tyres in qualifying. Still, the car was feeling good so I was focused and ready to recover. Unluckily our car's gearbox didn't agree with our plan, and I had no other option than stopping on track. Luckily tomorrow we'll have another qualifying session and another race, we will try to find a some more speed in Sector 3 and have a positive day".
