JAMES WALKER STEPS UP TO WORLD SERIES BY RENAULT

Autosport International, Birmingham NEC, UK - 13 January 2007: British F3 graduate, 23 year-old James Walker, will step up to the World Series by Renault in 2007, driving for Fortec Motorsport. The new partnership was announced today by James and his new team boss, Richard Dutton, on the central stage at Autosport International.

James rejoins old friends at Fortec with whom he took an F3 victory in 2005. As well as this being a rookie season for the Jersey racer, it is also a new series for the team; although with wins in single-seater categories from Formula BMW, Formula Renault, Formula 3 and F3000, Fortec are aiming as high as ever in 2007 and expect James to take them all the way to the top.

James is relishing the opportunity to compete in a top-level championship, against some of the best racing drivers in the world.

"I'm very excited about this," said James. "I know I will settle in quickly at Fortec and I am especially delighted that I will be engineered by Chris Gorne who is one of the best race engineers in the business. I know I will learn a lot from Chris and I think we have all the elements in place for a very successful rookie season.

Comtec (the 2006 Champions) showed last year that a rookie team can win so Fortec have set their sights high.

"It's great to work with James again," said Fortec Team Principal, Richard Dutton. "I've often said that if he'd stayed with us in F3 in 2006 he would have been a championship contender. James is a known quantity; he's capable of winning races and indeed championships."

The next official World Series by Renault test takes place in mid-March and the 2007 season kicks off a month later.
