Kerr focused on the front heading to Le Mans

London, England (September 26, 2006) -- The penultimate round of the 2006 World Series by Renault heads to the French marque's homeland this weekend, Saturday 30th September -- Sunday 1st October, as the Bugatti Circuit at Le Mans hosts the Round 8 double-header meeting. Britain's Robbie Kerr, racing this season for the Belgian-based Team KTR outfit, is keen to use this weekend's Le Mans outing as a chance to rectify what's been a largely frustrating season for the former British F3 Champion.

Repeatedly at the wrong end of other people's incidents and accidents this season, Kerr's most recent World Series outing at Donington Park, in his native England, saw him again struggle with an ill-handling car in qualifying only to be more competitive under race conditions. A 12th place finish in the first race ultimately brought no reward as points are only awarded to the top-ten but Kerr had proved a point of his own having started 23rd on the grid!

A lack of front-end grip, the scourge of Robbie's Donington weekend, returned to haunt him in Race 2 qualifying and he was again forced to start outside the top-20. Undeterred the Brit put on a show for his home crowd, charging through the field following an early pit-stop to claim the final point in tenth. While he had hoped for more from a track he knows well, Kerr immediately turned his attentions to this weekend's event in France.

Inclement weather marred official pre-season testing at the 4.18km Bugatti Circuit at Le Mans back in April but Robbie's form in both the wet and dry saw him fifth fastest from the 30-car field on the first day. With the second day of testing echoing the mixed conditions of the first day, Robbie and the Team KTR crew opted to work on set-up rather than flat-out pace with a view to this weekend's race return.

Looking forward to racing at Le Mans for the first time in his career Robbie commented:

"We had a pretty good test at Le Mans earlier in the year; we know what's required to go well there so we'll keep working towards that starting in Friday's practice sessions. Obviously my championship standing doesn't reflect where we should be and my focus for the rest of the season is to get onto the podium, hopefully we'll get to the front this weekend!"

Race 1 (20 Laps) from Le Mans, France is set to get underway on Saturday, 30th September, at 4pm CET with Race 2 (27 Laps) held on Sunday, 1st October, at 1pm CET.
