POINTS FINISH FOR CARBONE ROUNDS OFF AN EXCELLENT WEEKEND IN GERMANY

After proving his pace with victory in race one of the World Series by Renault at the Nurburgring on Saturday, Ultimate Signature driver Fabio Carbone settled for a solid points-scoring finish in race two on Sunday.

Having demonstrated both speed and consistency, Carbone came home with seventh place in race two. Fabio started the second German encounter from seventh on the grid, and with conditions remaining dry and consistent throughout the afternoon there was little he could do to improve his position. The Brazilian made a clean start and soon climbed up to sixth, but unfortunately the traffic during the pit stop window did not work in his favour and he lost a place whilst having his mandatory stop.

After exiting the pits, Fabio concentrated on consolidating his position until the end of the race in order to be sure of adding another points-scoring finish to his dominant win yesterday and closing the points gap to his rivals. With all the competitors so closely-matched, the 27 year-old was not quite able to break into the top six at the end of another challenging race.

"There was not a lot I could do today apart from try to bring home a solid result," said Fabio. "The car felt good, but this championship is so even and competitive that you sometimes need another variable as well. Weather conditions were warm and dry, and unusually there were hardly any retirements when we needed them! We lost a bit of time during the pit stops, so from then on it was a question of looking after the car and making sure we got a decent finish. Although we're now fourth in the championship we've actually closed the points gap to second place, so I'm happy. And of course I'll remember my win from yesterday for quite a while. It's been a fantastic weekend!"

The next round of the World Series by Renault -- one of the final stepping stones to Formula 1 -- takes place in just a week's time, from September 6-7 at Le Mans. The legendary French circuit is best known for the classic 24 Hours, but it will provide an equally formidable challenge to the World Series by Renault runners.

Ultimate Signature team manager Colin Morgan concluded: "After the excitement of yesterday, today was a little bit quieter for us -- but it was still a job well done. Fabio didn't have a particularly advantageous grid position, and there were no external factors that fell into his favour. Under the circumstances the best he could do was bring the car home in the points in order to boost his championship chances, and I'm delighted that he was able to do that."
