TOP ASIAN F3 OUTFIT TO JOIN AUSTRALIAN FORMULA 3 CHAMPIONSHIP IN 2009

One of the most successful teams to have raced in the Asian Formula 3 Championship has announced its intention to race in Australia next year.

Eurasia Team Goddard has announced plans to run a pair of Dallara F307 Mercedes Benz chassis in the 2009 Australian Drivers Championship for the CAMS Gold Star - and they come in well credentialed for success.

With former driver Mark Goddard at the helm, Eurasia Team Goddard won last year's Asian F3 drivers and Teams title as well as the 2007 Asia-Pacific series, in both the outright and promotions class. Success in the competitive Asian Formula BMW Championship was also forthcoming.

The team has also previously raced in Australia, entering a three-car team in the non-championship Australian Formula 3 races at the 2007 Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne. The team was the quickest of the Asian visitors and - despite running slightly different specification cars (The Asian series utilised a control Toyota engine) and having to adapt to the Australian Kumho tyre - performed strongly against the Australian elite.

Team owner Mark Goddard said the team hopes to capitalise on the teams' extensive experience when it comes to race against the best of the Gold Star competition in 2009.

"Drivers such as Ben Clucas, Charlie Hollings and James Winslow have demonstrated that Formula 3 Australia is a positive career move for European based drivers, as well as those from the Asia-pacific region. Drivers from the America's should also consider the series," he said.

"We have some serious drivers interested for 2009 - We know it will be tough but that's part of the attraction - we love a challenge!

"I believe our renowned technical and driver development expertise will give us that vital edge"

Eurasia Team Goddard is currently in the process of sourcing drivers and preparing for the opening round of the 2009 Australian Drivers Championship, to be held at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide between March 19 - 22 on the streets of Adelaide.
