Barba and McLeod continue to dominate the European F3 Open

Filgueira, excelent third and Cup winner

Marco Barba and Callum McLeod continue to dominate the European F3 Open. The spaniard from the Cedars team has won race 1 in Spa, collecting his third success of the season, after an intense fight with McLeod. The two men reinforce their positions at the top of the standings. Aaron Filgueira finished third in another great show from the young driver of the Drivex team, who won without problems among Cup cars, in front of Correa and Villalba.

Fumanelli takes the best start from the pole, but has to let pass Barba and McLeod in the first lap, with the Briton taking the lead shortly after, in front of Barba, Fumanelli, Muñoz, Ceccon and Filgueira, while there is a contact between Fernanadez and Monje, who both spins.

In lap 2, Barba retakes the lead from Mc Leod but the Briton passes again in lap 4 and seems in a comfortable position to keep the advantage. Fumanelli loses ground and positions, being passed by Muñoz and Filgueira, in full duel. Sixtos is sixth (quite logically), followed by Abadin, Fernandez charging up and Ceccon.

In lap 8, Abadin and Fernandez pass Sixtos and shortly after also Fumanelli while the fight for third sees Filgueira, the undiscussed leader among Cup cars, emerge.

In the last laps, McLeod is slowed by the semi-detachment of the engine cover, which allows Barba to catch the Briton and pass himl in the last lap at Les Combes. Barba wins ahead of McLeod, Filgueira, Muñoz, Abadin, Fernandez and Ceccon. The last incident sees Monje going off-track and hitting the armco.
