Edoardo Piscopo stays on the podium a Monza
After experiencing a dominant start at Mugello and Magione, Edoardo Piscopo had a tougher luck at Monza, in the third round of the 2008 Formula 3 Italia Series, as the gap between the leaders particularly short. In qualifying, Edoardo took a double Row 2 position, lapping within hundreds of a second from the pole. On Race 1, he gained one spot at the start, and then increased control on the fight for podium happening behind him, taking 8 valuable points in 2nd. Unfortunately, Edoardo suffered from a bad break on Race 2: after another good start, he was hit from behind by Nico Verdonck and forced to retire. For the next round of the season, teams and drivers will be back at Mugello, in the re- match of the series' opener, on July 19 and 20.
"The Monza event was conditioned by the crash on Race 2, when Nico Verdonck hit me at the start. Compared to the other top cars, we had a little less speed on straights, but I managed to recover in the corners and I kept contact with the front. On Race 1 I had a good start, climbing one position, But I couldn't catch Bortolotti's slipstream and try to move on. The gaps among the field were definitely less than they used to be, but I'm sure we'll be really competitive at Mugello."
