Janis sets fastest time at the end of the session

Jarek Janis was the fastest of this morning free practice session. The Czech, with an excellent lap time of 1'24"559, was able to stay ahead of worthy opponents like Filippi, Vilander and Ricci, respectively after him. The fifth fastest time was recorded by the Uruguayan Caceres for GP Racing, ahead of Ciompi and of ex-F1 driver Danner.

First of the Light category, as usual, Stefano Gattuso, who took the 7th place ahead of Lanceri, at his debut for team Sighinolfi. After them, De Villota and Solieri. At the back, very far, two other debutants: the Chinese driver Ma and De Magryes for Durango.

Giacomo Ricci the fastest on wet track

The second free practice session took the start in a pouring rain. The fastest on the wet track was Ricci, ahead of the Championship leader Filippi and of Janis, the fastest in the morning. Fourth place for the other Fisichella driver, Ciompi, ahead of Danner , Vilander and Lanceri. After them, the Spanish driver De Villota, ahead of Gattuso, Caceres and the Chinese Ma, while Solieri and De Magryes stayed at the end of the time sheets.

The session was suspended two times: the first to allow the tow of De Villota's car, which went off the track without consequences, and the second time because of the rain. The practice was anyway useful to test a wet set-up, in case qualifying or the race should take place in the rain.
