Janis in pole tightens his grab on second place

Janis will start from pole position the last race of the CSAI F3000 Trophy, after a second qualifying decidedly faster than this morning session. The Czech of Ma-con took the pole from Filippi during the last stages of the session. The championship leader could not improve his time, even with new tyres, and took the second place, ahead of his team-mate Ciompi, and of Caceres. Third row for Ricci, who had to interrupt his qualifying, due to some engine problems, and for Vilander. After them Lanceri and Gattuso, Danner and De Villota. At the back of the grid Solieri, Ma, Chiminelli and De Magryes.

Commentary: After ten minutes Janis is leading with a lap time of 1'22"662 from Ciompi, Ricci and the GP Racing duo, Vilander and Caceres. Sixth place for De Villota, and after him Gattuso, Lanceri, Solieri and Filippi. Then the Fisichella Motorsport's driver starts pushing, recording the sixth fastest time and, immediately after, a time of 1'22"699, very close to Janis.

At half session Filippi leads the way, setting a time of 1'22"375, while Caceres gets ahead of Vilander. Ten minutes to the end of the session, Ciompi takes second place after Filippi, who also improves his time to 1'22"329, while Vilander returns ahead of Caceres and Danner takes seventh place. Five minutes to the end, Caceres takes third place from Janis, who begins to speed up taking the final top spot and the pole with a time of 1'22"287.
