Sentul International Circuit has been the home of motorsport in West Java for almost 30 years. Since its introduction in 1993, it has been the natural home of Javanese speed freaks and last year it hosted the 3rd event in the inaugural F4 SEA Championship.

In 2016 it was Indonesian hero Presley ‘The Wonderboy’ Martono who won the Indonesian FIA F4SEA event on home ground and went on to win the F4 SEA overall and rookie championship titles, becoming the MERITUS Awards Gala – Indonesian Rising Star.

“It is really good that F4 SEA is here in Indonesia as I believe it will help boost the local racing scene and provide a strong base for the growth of motorsports in Indonesia.” – Presley Martono

The Indonesian driver will be returning to Sentul with F4 SEA this year to support his compatriots as they challenge China’s Daniel Cao who has won every event in the 2017 championship.

But Presley won’t be Daniel’s only worry as Indonesia has a team of young hopefuls lining up to compete.

F4 SEA is unique in the world of racing as it is a one-team championship. That means all the drivers are engineered by the same team, MERITUS.GP - the same team where Indonesia’s first F1 driver Rio Haryanto started his career.

“It was fantastic to win my first FIA championship with MERITUS.GP in 2009. After my success with the team in Formula BMW I went on to win in GP2 and GP3 in Europe. Formula 4 replaces Formula BMW and for sure it is the best step after karting.” - Rio Haryanto

The Indonesian event will take place next weekend from the 24th to the 26th of November with six races to determine the event champion, before the championship moves to Thailand for the penultimate event and then comes home to Malaysia to decide the overall champion.

As the official fuel and engine oil sponsor of the 2017 Formula 4 South East Asia (F4 SEA) Championship, Petron will be supporting the Formula 4 cars in Sentul with the fully synthetic Petron Blaze Racing Engine Oil.
