Mucke Motorsport Suspended from Formula BMW Europe Races.

Valencia, 20 August 2009. Mucke Motorsport has been suspended from the next four rounds of the 2009 Formula BMW Europe series after the team's three cars were found to be in breach of technical regulations in Hungary.

Following race two at the Hungaroring the oil pressure relief valve springs from its three cars driven by Michael Christensen (DK), Timmy Hansen (SE) and Jack Te Braak (NL) were sealed and sent for further detailed technical examinations, and the results of the race remained provisional. These examinations by dimension and by a force-deflection test revealed that each spring was of a different characteristic than the standard spring installed in the engine.

Subseqently all three cars have been excluded from the results of race two after a hearing of the Stewards convened in Valencia with the authority of the Hungarian ASN. It is the view of the Stewards that such alteration, substitution and/or modification as has taken place to each of the springs fitted to the cars is deliberate, that such behaviour is unsporting and does not respect the spirit of Formula BMW Europe and have imposed the following additional penalties:

A Fine of ^a 1,000 in respect of each car

Mucke Motorsport and its drivers, Michael Christensen, Timmy Hansen and Jack Te Braak, will be suspended from Formula BMW Europe for the meeting in Valencia on 21-22-23 August 2009. (The Stewards noted, although the penalities affect the three drivers, there is no evidence they had any prior knowledge of the offences.)

Additionally, the Organising Committee of Formula BMW Europe has suspended the team from the rounds in Spa-Francorchamps under the powers granted to it in Art 3.36.3 of the regulations. Therefore, the team will be eligible to race in Monza.

Mucke Motorsport has lodged its intent to appeal the decisions of both the Stewards and the Organising Committee. Therefore their three cars will run under appeal in Valencia and Spa-Francorchamps. All results will remain provisional until the outcome of the appeal. However, the FIA Sporting Code dictates that until then the team and the drivers are not able to take part in any prizegiving or podium ceremonies, nor can they appear in the official classification of the event.
