Regalia - Great race but no reward
Facu Regalia was one of the highlights of today's Formula BMW Europe race at Hockenheim, with good overtaking manoeuvres, but when he was knocking on the podium's door an opponent touched him and he spun to the ninth place.
The Spanish-Argentinean driver has done today one of his best races to date, though he finished just ninth. The overtakings that he made, made him one of the drivers to watch in today's race and led him to the fifth position with the podium in his sights. "I started very well and I overtook Marc Coleselli and Carlos Sainz Jr. I kept recovering places and, later, I gained positions to Javier Taracon, Come Ledogar and George Katsinis and I still had many laps ahead", said Facu Regalia after the Hockenheim's second race.
When he was fifth, the eighteen years old driver, in the clean air, started a string of fast laps, reaching the drivers that were fourth and third. "I was on the Daniil Kvyat's back and I put myself on his outside so I could overtake in the baking zone, something that I completed. However, he open his line and touched me, sending me to a spin which cost me five positions. I saw the chequered flag in the ninth position, but I'm pleased with my pace, though the car was understeering a bit too much", explained Facu Regalia after a hard weekend.
